Practice-oriented engineering education

The course places great emphasis on broad basic knowledge and teaches important soft skills for later professional activity. Some of the lectures can also be completed at foreign partner universities as part of an exchange program.

 

Dein Studium im Überblick

Theorie ist wichtig. Doch Technik wird erst richtig interessant, wenn Du sie selbst ausprobieren kannst. Deshalb gehören Laborpraktika, Projekte, moderne Industriemaschinen sowie vernetzte Hard- und Softwarelabore zu Deinem Maschinenbau-Studium. Dazu kommen Projekt- und Abschlussarbeiten in Zusammenarbeit mit Unternehmen sowie Exkursionen. So bekommst Du schon während des Studiums ein Gefühl dafür, wie Ingenieurarbeit in der Praxis aussieht.

Structure and content

In the first and second semesters, there is a joint foundation course in the bachelor's degree programmes in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics and Industrial Engineering - International Project Engineering. You can decide which degree programme you would like to continue with by the end of the second semester. All credits earned up to that point will be fully recognised in the new programme.  
The programme offers lectures and laboratory practicals covering the following topics, among others:

  • Scientific and technical fundamentals
  • Design, manufacturing, drives
  • Foreign languages
  • Business administration
  • Soft skills

This is how the online application works

Step 1: Register at hochschulstart.de, retrieve your applicant ID (BID) and applicant authentication number (BAN) there and select your desired degree programme at Reutlingen University.

Step 2: Register on the application portal of Reutlingen University and apply for your desired degree programme.

Application deadlines: February 28/29 for the summer semester / August 31 for the winter semester.

Up to twelve applications are possible, three at Reutlingen University. If you activate the e-mail notification, you will be informed about the current status of your application.

Step 3: Decide which of your desired degree programmes you would most like to study and prioritise on hochschulstart.de. After an offer of admission, your applications with lower priority may be eliminated from the process. Therefore, be sure to prioritize your study programme at Reutlingen University if this corresponds to your preference.
